As we all know, it did not go well, as the Fighting Irish were dominated, 42-14.So does Brian Kelly want another shot at the Crimson Tide this year in the College Football Playoff? He had an interesting answer. In a segment with Gene Wojciechowski on College GameDay Saturday morning, Kelly didn’t shy away from the idea of playing Alabama, but he also didn’t suggest he’s longing for it.“Be careful what you wish for.””Be careful what you wish for….if [Alabama] were to get pushed out in the semifinal, we would not be unhappy.”–Brian Kelly— Medium Happy (@jdubs88) November 3, 2018″I came here with the expectation that we would live up to tradition. And that tradition here at Notre Dame is to win a National Championship.”Brian Kelly believes this could be the Fighting Irish’s year to win it all. pic.twitter.com/FrUZt14IDC— ESPN CollegeFootball (@ESPNCFB) November 3, 2018Kelly added that if Alabama were knocked off in the national semifinal, he wouldn’t be upset about it.Kelly did note that his team went toe-to-toe with Georgia last year – and Georgia went toe-to-toe with Alabama. It was his way of suggesting that his team could possibly compete with the Crimson Tide.Either way, Notre Dame has to reach the Playoff first for any of this to matter. The Fighting Irish probably have to reach 12-0 to make that happen. They take on Northwestern this afternoon.last_img
