VANCOUVER – Lululemon Athletica Inc. has appointed Patrick Guido as chief financial officer as its search continues for a new chief executive. The Vancouver-based clothing company says Guido, who most recently worked as treasurer and vice-president of corporate development at VF Corp., will report to chief operating officer Stuart Haselden.Lululemon has been without a CEO since early February when Laurent Potdevin suddenly stepped down from the post after the company said he “fell short” of its standards of conduct.Executive chairman Glenn Murphy told a March conference call with financial analysts that the company had met with several possible candidates, but would be taking its time in its search for a replacement.Potdevin reached a separation agreement with the company that will see him receive $3.35 million in cash, plus a further $1.65 million paid in monthly instalments over 18 months, while agreeing not to sue the company and co-operate with it in the future. The company also lost its executive vice-president and creative director at the end of last year when Lee Holman resigned.

The court determined there was not enough evidence to go forward with the case. Hinson, 24, was arrested, suspended and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison for the late September arson at the Chalk Sound police station where the building and four vehicles were set ablaze. Magnetic Media in a letter of concern cited that the Police Force continues to be standoffish with media and the public about major crimes in the country, our company adding that perhaps this is among the reasons there is such lackluster of support from the general public when it comes to investigations. Still outstanding: sufficient leads and evidence in the murder probe of businessman Robert Been Sr from March 4 this year; an update in the new investigation of Damaris Martinez of the Dominican Republic; the jury returned a not guilty for Romano Howell on October 8… however it is certain the woman was murdered by someone and her body dumped on the roadside here in Provo; no updates in the case of North Caicos’ Quincy Gardiner where media is still waiting on the results of an autopsy and for an update on what will happen to the man once held for questioning the case. And now Police will have to start over in the case to find who is responsible for the torching one of the new police patrol vehicles. These are but some of the cases where it is reported that evidence is insufficient to move to a full trial. Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppBahamas, August 14, 2017 – Nassau – Unemployment rate in the Bahamas declines 1.7%. Since November 2016, the unemployment rate declined from 11.6% to 9.9% due to an increase (7,770) of employed persons and a decrease (3,485) of unemployed persons. The three most populated islands that were surveyed experienced decreases in their unemployment rates. At the time of the survey (April 24 – 30, 2017) the rate in New Providence was 10.4%; in Grand Bahama, 12.4%, and Abaco 7.8%.Among the employed labour force, there were more men than women. However, in all the islands surveyed except Abaco, men were fewer in numbers among the unemployed labour force. In May 2017, vulnerable employment was 8.2% of total employment. During the period 2012 to 2017, the share of workers in vulnerable employment was fairly stable and ranged between 7.0% and 9.2% of the employed labour force. The percentage of men in this category was higher, although the percentage points differences between men and women were fairly small. These workers as defined by ILO are less likely to have formal work arrangements, and more likely to lack decent working conditions and are often characterized by inadequate earnings and benefits. The private sector absorbed most of the new jobs since November 2016. However, when examined by industry, the “Community, Social and Personal Service” industry which includes the civil service, police service and the domestic services posted a 29.1% increase in employment; hotels and restaurants posted 26.2% increase and construction posted 20.0% increase.Unemployment among youths (15-24 years) in the country continued to be considerably higher than any other age group which is common to most countries. However, there was a slight decline in the rate from 25.1% recorded in November 2016 to 24.1%.Discouraged workers in the country declined by 8.8% over the six month period. New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco experienced declines in the number of discouraged workers – 11.3%, 8.1% and 14.6%, respectively. These persons, according to the standard definition of the International Labour Organization (ILO), ‘’did not look for work because they believed no jobs were available for them’’.The Department of Statistics is the Government Agency in The Bahamas mandated by law to collect, process, analyze and disseminate statistics. I understand you’re a gamer. Are you playing anything right now?I have a PlayStation 4, and I just finished playing God of War. I’m obsessed with all things God of War, and Uncharted. I love all of the Uncharteds. It’s so good. Are there other ways technology plays a role in your life?We are all attached to our phones in such a big way. I try to put it down and limit my time on it so I can be more present when I’m sitting down. But I will say the PlayStation has been my favorite tool for connecting, especially with my brothers — they live in Canada, in Winnipeg. We gear up for the weekend and get a bunch of our friends together. We log on and put our headsets on and do a raid on a Saturday night on Destiny. It’s just one of my favorite ways to stay connected. And even if it’s just me and one of my brothers, we’ll start talking. How’s your day going? How are you? What’s going on at home? We can get into all that while we go through the different worlds of Destiny. They have that familiar Law & Order procedural feel, with more exploring of characters’ emotions and relationships. And that combination is key to Chicago P.D. as the sixth season hurtles towards its climax. In this Wednesday’s penultimate episode of the season, Detective Hailey Upton and Officer Adam Ruzek roll up on a crime in progress and find themselves caught in a full-on gun fight. The badass Upton even hood-slides across her car. But its not the flying bullets that have fans on the edge of their seats — it’s the secret romance between Upton and Rezek. Comment I got to talk by phone with Tracy Spiridakos, who plays the smart and charismatic Det. Upton in the NBC show. The Canadian actress opened up about the challenges of portraying a detective, the pride she feels playing a strong woman who’s allowed to be vulnerable, what’s going on with Officer Ruzek and how the PlayStation 4 is her go-to device for staying connected with friends and family.Q: What does it mean for you to play the forthright Hailey?Spiridakos: It’s awesome. It’s important to portray all sides of a woman, and what I find appealing about Hailey is yes, she has this unapologetic feature, but she’s also very vulnerable and she’ll show that. She’s a badass, but you’ll see her cry. That combination makes her a complete person. How has playing Hailey pushed you as an actress?I’ve learned so much from all of my castmates, just watching how they react to things, their processes and how everyone works. With Hailey, one of my favorite things is her unapologetic nature. She has a very strong moral code. She doesn’t care if you like what she has to say or not, she’s just going to say it.How have fans reacted to the surprise Upton/Ruzek romance? It’s been either really positive or really not. There are a lot of fans who were really invested in [Kim] Burges and Ruzek’s relationship, and I totally get that. But there are other fans who were excited about Upton and Ruzek. There’s no in the middle. Patty [Patrick Flueger], who plays Ruzek, is one of my favorite people on the planet, so it’s been really fun getting to work with him on everything. How are you trained on police protocol and details like carrying a gun, or the way a detective might stand? We have this amazing human being named Brian Luce, he’s our tech advisor on the show and a police officer. He helps us with everything: how we stand, how we hold the gun, how to clear a room. What you’re thinking about in an interview, what you’re thinking about when you walk into a room. He really helps us get into the headspace and make it authentic.

Reuters journalists Wa Lone (L) and Kyaw Soe Oo, based in Myanmar, pose for a picture at the Reuters office in Yangon, Myanmar on 11 December, 2017. Photo: ReutersThe EU’s diplomatic chief on Thursday condemned Myanmar’s jailing of two Reuters journalists, hours after the country’s tarnished democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi strongly defended the men’s treatment.A court in Myanmar jailed Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo for seven years last week for breaching the country’s hardline Official Secrets Act while reporting on the Rohingya crisis. The trial was widely seen as a bid to muzzle the press, and the reporters’ harsh sentences have attracted a chorus of international criticism.EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini repeated a call for the reporters’ immediate, unconditional release, saying they had not had a fair trial.”Many observers saw this trial as a test of freedom of the media, democracy and the rule of law in the country. It is pretty clear that the test was failed,” Mogherini told the European Parliament.”The sentence will also intimidate other journalists who could fear undue arrest or prosecution for doing their job.”Earlier Suu Kyi, Myanmar’s de facto leader, hit back at widespread international concern over the trial, challenging critics to show where there had been a miscarriage of justice and insisting they had been fairly tried “in open court”.Nobel peace laureate Suu Kyi was once lionised as a human rights champion for standing up to the military junta that ruled her country for decades, but her response to the Rohingya crisis has seen her reputation tarnished in the eyes of many observers.Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Hanoi on Thursday, Suu Kyi said the army’s brutal crackdown on the Muslim minority — described by the UN as “genocide” — “could have been handled better”.Army-led “clearance operations” that started last August drove 700,000 Rohingya into Bangladesh, carrying with them widespread accounts of atrocities — rape, murder and arson — by Myanmar police and troops. The European Parliament on Thursday also called for the reporters to be freed and urged the bloc’s executive arm, the European Commission, to review trade privileges granted to Myanmar when it transitioned to democracy in 2015.

The lawsuit also includes election officials from the counties of Blanco, Caldwell, Fayette, Galveston, and Washington for sending out notices warning about the possibility of canceling voter registrations based on the list compiled by the Secretary of State. The lawsuit claims the advisory sent to voter registrars and election administrators was flawed, despite knowing that the list included naturalized citizens eligible to vote. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) has also initiated litigation. The organization filed a lawsuit last Friday on behalf of a group of naturalized citizens and advocacy organizations. The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) was the first organization to file a lawsuit over the Secretary of State’s advisory. Under his tenure, Netflix’s kids and family shows received 30 Daytime Emmy Awards and 100 total nominations. Before joining Netflix in early 2011, Yeatman worked in digital distribution for Walt Disney Studios, where he negotiated movie distribution deals with platforms including Hulu, Apple’s iTunes, Sony’s PlayStation Network and Microsoft Xbox.
