Scorpions and Mets battle for top spot

first_imgBy BEN HARRISNSW Scorpions and NSW Mets are on a collision course for top spot of the women’s Elite Eight division. The two remain the only undefeated teams in the group after two days of the 2014 X-Blades National Touch League at Coffs Harbour. They will meet each other in the final round on Friday and it could well be the match that decides pole position in the women’s open competition.Could being the key word. The Mets’ finals credentials will be tested as they take on teams in second and third positions on day three. They will meet Queensland Outlaws in the sixth round at 10.30am and follow it up by playing the Scorpions, who should beat NSW Rebels at 9.40am, if previous results are anything to go by.Mets’ could be without Australia women’s open player Ash Quinlan who was carried off in Mets’ 7-5 win over Queensland South Stingrays. The Scorpions had wins over Stingrays (9-6) and Outlaws (7-5) to trail Mets on percentages. The Outlaws went down twice on Thursday, which has put them in danger of missing out on the top four if they fail to fire on day three. They lead a long list of teams who are jockeying for the final two semi spots. The Stingrays remain fourth despite losing twice while The Alliance and Queensland Chiefs are in the hunt.Last year’s runners-up, the Chiefs, put their disastrous day one performance behind them to win twice on day two.Rebels are not totally out of it of the semi-finals but it will be a long shot, while NSW Country Mavericks’ campaign is over.No doubt the highlight on day three in the women’s competition will be the match between the Scorpions and the Mets, which will most likely decide top spot. The game taps-off at 3pm.You can keep up-to-date with all of the latest news and information from the 2014 X-Blades National Touch League in the following ways:Websiteswww.ntl.mytouchfooty.comwww.austouch.com.auSocial MediaFacebook – www.facebook.com/touchfootballaustraliaTwitter – www.twitter.com/touchfootyaus (be sure to use the hashtag #NTL2014)Instagram – www.instagram.com/touchfootballaustraliaYouTube – www.youtube.com/touchfootballausRelated LinksWomen’s Elite Eight day twolast_img read more

Germany begin life after World Cup with a draw

first_imgThe German national men’s football team have begun life after an embarrassing outing at the just concluded FIFA World Cup in Russia with a draw against France, according to DFB.de.The Die Mannschaft held the current world champions to a goalless draw at the Allianz Arena in Germany. After much debate, Joachim Low decided to stick with majority of the team that underperformed in Russia with Manuel Neuer started between the sticks for Germany, behind a back four of Matthias Ginter, Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Antonio Rüdiger. Joshua Kimmich started at defensive midfield with Leon Goretzka and Toni Kroos in front of him.Thomas Müller, Timo Werner and Marco Reus completed the starting XI as a front three. The German side started with purpose and soon got on the front foot, albeit without creating a clear-cut chance. For the majority of the half, the teams were in deadlock and headed into the changing rooms for half time with no more than a couple of shots on target to reflect on.Top 5 Bundesliga players to watch during the weekend Tomás Pavel Ibarra Meda – September 11, 2019 With the international activity cooling down for the next month, we go back to the Bundesliga’s Top 5 players to watch next weekend. The German…Low’s team continued to try to carve out opportunities in the wider areas but they couldn’t open up the French defence with the crucial final pass. In the 34th minute, for example, Rüdiger nearly got on the end of a dangerous cross from Kroos before Olivier Giroud tested Manuel Neuer with a header at the other end. The captain then parried a Kylian Mbappé free-kick from 20 metres out in the 43rd minute. The last chance of the first half fell to the world champions as a heel flick from Giroud went wide of the goal.Didier Deschamps’ French team started the second half as the better side as an Antoine Griezmann shot was saved by Neuer (48’). Timo Werner then tested Areola’s reflexes in the French goal from an acute angle (57’). Neither team could create many clear opportunities in front of goal with much of the game being contested in midfield. The next chance also fell to Griezmann, who attempted a shot from long distance (64’). At the other end, Areola spectacularly denied Reus with a fingertip save around the post (65’).A lack of cutting edge from both sides saw their first competitive meeting since 2016 end in a goalless stalemate.last_img read more

We started with some doubts, but after that, we were brilliant and scored some incredible goals.“We were very effective. We want to get back to how good we were before. What I’ve liked most in these 10 days is the attitude of the players.Sergio Ramos, Real MadridZidane reveals Sergio Ramos injury concern for Real Madrid Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Zinedine Zidane has put Sergio Ramos’ availability for Real Madrid’s trip to Sevilla next weekend in doubt after withdrawing him against Levante.“From what I’ve seen, regardless of the results, I’m delighted. When I hear my name sung, I feel proud, but it’s the players who deserve it. Still, I appreciate it.“There are many things to improve on. Everything can change in a day. I’m not one of those who exaggerate in victory or martyr in defeat.“I’m looking for balance. I didn’t know there were six Real Madrid players in the XI, neither do I care;“They play for the Spanish national team, that’s it. They don’t play for one team or another. Our base is from Real Madrid and it looks good to me.“No-one from Barcelona? I only see a shirt, the national team’s one. Qualification? Fahion hacks for a quick new look

Fashion is an art and art is always versatile which not only relates to the dress you are wearing but everything that integrates into your outfit. In order to succeed, fashion brands have no choice but to be creative. But don’t worry; we always have a solution and you don’t have to burn a hole in your pocket to become a style expert. It’s time to upgrade your cupboard with chic styling ideas. Also Read – Add new books to your shelfNeck-tie for watch strapGot some old-ties dead in your cupboard from high school times? Time for some watch makeover! This is something really comfortable, colorful and economical at the same time. Just cut off the old and worn-out strap from your watch and replace it with a colorful neck-tie you have. Simply roll the tie on your wrist 1-2 times and tie a small knot to have the comfortable look. You can also add some beads and chain locks at the ends. Besides that, it’s easily washable, unlike leather straps. Also Read – Over 2 hours screen time daily will make your kids impulsiveFishnets and ripped jeansThe ‘ripped jeans’ trend has completely flooded the planet. It is so common to see people pairing these up with t-shirts or crop tops. But there’s always something different that can be done. You can wear fishnet stockings under your ripped jeans to have a completely different and attractive look. All it takes is the right amount of inspiration to work them into your existing wardrobe. Let them peek out from under your jeans, or show a few inches of fishnet just above your pants’ waistband. Scarf for sandal strapsSummer is the ultimate season for sandals, but don’t just settle for plain flip flops. With a little creativity, you can make cute ‘scarf sandals’ out of your old flats. All you need is a cheap pair of flip flops, a colorful scarf, and scissors. Cut the scarf in two and start wrapping half of it on the strap of your slippers and tie a little knot at the end. You can wrap the remaining length of the scarf around your ankle to create a sandal look. You can use small hooks, beads or simple knots to hold the ends together. If you ever get bored, you can just change up the scarf and give your sandals a whole new look.Sock bootsAll you need to make your own ‘sock boot’ is a pair of pointy-toed pumps, thin knit socks, and a piece of sandpaper. Simply roll the sock over the heel of your pumps, cut a hole at the heel and slide it through the sock and stick sandpaper (or non-slip grips) at the bottom of the sole to avoid any skidding. This will also save the lives of so many innocent animals killed to make those expensive leather boots. Another thing you can do is to wear a similar color stockings under a tying-sandal to get the perfect boot look for summers. The fitting of these boots are much more attractive than the regular boots, less warm and don’t restrict movement.Go ahead and apply these fashion hacks to have your own unique look this summer.last_img read more

Bosses at Severn Trent Water say the scheme in Oakamoor comes as part of a £400,000 investment in the Staffordshire Moorlands during 2018. The project would see new pipes laid out in the village with work starting at the junction of Ribden Road before moving along Star Bank and finishing adjacent to Hays Gate Farm. That scheme, set to begin on January 29 and last for seven weeks, would see a road closure between Ribden Road and Cotton Lane, with diversions in place. Businesses demand compensation after overrunning roadworks ‘ruin’ Christmas trade Now residents are being invited to learn more about the project during a drop-in session at Oakamoor Village Hall on January 10 from 4pm until 7pm. Dave Kiernan, who is leading the programme for Severn Trent, said: “The existing pipes have been in place for many years and they may start to become more prone to leaks and bursts. “The new pipes we’re planning to install will make sure we can keep water flowing through the pipes for many years to come.” Read MoreSevern Trent agrees to help catch speeding drivers (but residents still want a relief road) Mr Kiernan has also apologised for the potential disruption caused by the works. He said: “This is really essential work to provide our customers with a reliable supply of fresh drinking water. “Our contractors from Amey will work closely with local people to keep access open to homes as businesses as much as possible. “We’re sorry for any disruption this causes but we hope local people understand the great benefits this work will have for the future.”last_img read more
