Stephen Wight Will Lead McQueen Transfer to London’s West End

McQueen, which as previously reported made its world premiere in May at the St. James Theatre, will transfer to London’s West End, with Stephen Wight as the titular character. The role of Dahlia, which was originated by former Glee star Dianna Agron, will be played by Carly Bawden; Agron has filming commitments. Written by James Phillips and directed by John Caird, the production will play a limited engagement August 13 through November 7 at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Opening night is set for August 27.McQueen is a journey into the imagination and dream world of fashion icon Alexander McQueen. Set on a single London night, it steps into the fairy story landscape of McQueen’s mind, the landscape seen in his immortal shows, where with a dress an urchin can become an Amazon, where beauty might just help us survive the night. A girl has watched McQueen’s Mayfair house for eleven consecutive days. Tonight she climbs down from her watching tree and breaks into his house, to steal a dress, to become someone special. He catches her, but, instead of calling the police, they embark together on a journey through London and into his heart.Reprising their roles as Isabella Blow and Arabella will be Tracy-Ann Oberman and Laura Rees, respectively. Michael Bertenshaw will be joining the cast as Mr Hitchcock. Commander of Zetas drug cartel detained in Mexico

first_img MEXICO CITY — Mexico’s military late July 24 announced the arrest of four members of the notorious Zetas drug cartel, including a top commander within the group. A military news release said the arrests took place in the central Mexican city of Puebla, where officials detained Zeta commander William de Jesús Torres Solórzano, who also goes by the nicknames “El W” and “The Worm Eater.” He was arrested during a military patrol of the region. Authorities said that among the items seized during the arrest were four vehicles, weapons, a package containing a large quantity of cocaine and about US$830,000 in cash. Reggae Boyz lose 3-1 to Peru

first_imgJamaica’s Reggae Boyz, lost 3-1 to Peru in an international friendly in Arequipa Tuesday night.The Theodore Whitmore coached Reggae Boyz is preparing for this summer’s Caribbean Cup and Gold Cup.They were outclassed by the high-pressing Peruvians who opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Christian Cueva played a through ball to Paolo Guerrero who shot at goal. Goalkeeper Andre Blake parried the ball and the rebound fell to Edison Flores, who made no mistake from close range.Jamaica took a long time to settle and was guilty of wayward passing in the first half. The hosts would double their lead in the 44th minute after Renato Tapia, who was left unmarked on a corner kick and headed the ball past Blake.Peru continued to press in the second half forcing Jamaica to concede several corner kicks. It didn’t take long for the pressing to pay off as Paolo Guerrero, who after coming off because of a bloody nose, returned to the field of play and was almost immediately put through to slot home past Blake to make it 3-0 in the 59th minute.Jamaica’s consolation came from the penalty spot in the 86th minute.Owein Gordon drove into the box and was hit in the face by an errant arm from Nilson Loyola. The referee showed Loyola a yellow card and awarded Jamaica a penalty. Jermaine Johnson then calmly put the ball past Jose Carvalho.Jamaica will turn its attention to the Caribbean Cup in Martinique where they play French Guiana in the first semi-final on June 22 at 6:00pm while Curacao will take on Martinique at 8:30pm.The title will be decided on June 25 at 7:30pm.last_img read more
