Kolkata: A thundershower triggered by a Nor’wester that lashed various South Bengal districts on late Monday evening may persist till Wednesday.The residents of city and the people from other districts in South Bengal will witness a pleasant weather till Wednesday following which the temperature may start soaring. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore, a pressure zone has formed over Bihar and Jharkhand that has been constantly injecting water vapour into Bengal. The water vapour will also contribute to the rainfall in South Bengal. Rain that lashed South Bengal districts has brought down the temperature by 3 to 5 degree Celsius giving much waited respite to the people. The discomfort level will shoot up after the next Thursday due to high level of humidity prevailing in the atmosphere. The weather office said that a moderate to heavy rainfall will hit five districts in North Bengal. Rain will be coupled with thunderstorm and lightning. The impact of the rainy spell will be over by Thursday,” a senior official of the Alipore Met office said. The official also added that the Nor’wester is likely to hit various South Bengal districts on Wednesday. Rains have pushed the mercury down by a few notches. People have received some respite from the excessive heat.
