A well-matched team of talents, whose chemistry can only be described as “familial,” Jimmy Spencer and Karen Hernandez, seem to read each other’s minds and blend perfectly together. This is must-watch for jazz lovers.Thursdays feature the Rio Fiumara Jazz Quartet. A regular at Colombo’s for about 10 years now, the Quartet plays a variety of old standards in a traditional jazz sense.Sundays, Colombo’s plays host to the Eric Ekstrand Trio. Composed of Eric Ekstrand on piano and vocals, Leslie Baker on bass, and Frank Wilson on drums, the Trio brings a fresh approach to Jazz and Blues, apply new twists to old standards, and add roots to original compositions. The Trio’s music has been described as intriguing and invigorating, without being stuffy or snobbish.
