Remi Garde calls for solidarity after hapless Aston Villa are thrashed at Everton

first_imgRemi Garde says he is aware of the huge task he faces to keep Aston Villa in the Premier League after the top flight’s basement side were thrashed 4-0 at Everton.Doubles for Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku embarrassed the Midlands club at Goodison Park as the Villans remain without a victory since August. The heavy defeat leaves Villa five points from safety, but Garde called for solidarity within the club as they look to stage an unlikely escape.“I knew that the task and the mission was very difficult but nobody will let it down,” said the Frenchman.“The players know that. We are all in the same boat and we are going to stick together because we have no other solution.”Villa’s chances in the game were, in truth, over by half time after the Toffees opened up a three-goal lead, and Garde recognised the huge gulf between the two sides. He added: “I think today the difference between the two teams was probably too high.“I was disappointed after the first goal. The second half was a bit better but we were already 3-0 down.”last_img read more
